<기사제목>Presidential Office: "Yoon Immediately Vetoes Government Transfer of Special Prosecutor Act"기사제목>
Reasons for Refusal of Pre-Election Special Prosecutor Without Ruling-Party Agreement
The Presidential Office announced on the 28th that it will "immediately exercise the veto power" once the so-called 'double special prosecutors' bill, aimed at investigating the Daejang-dong 5 billion Club allegations and Kim Geon-hee's Deutsche Motors stock manipulation suspicions, which passed the National Assembly vote, is transmitted to the government.
Lee Do-woon, the Presidential Office's Chief Public Relations Officer, held an emergency briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office that afternoon and made the announcement.
On that day, while members of the People Power Party abstained from the vote, the bill titled 'Act on the Appointment of a Special Prosecutor to Investigate the Stock Manipulation Allegations of President's Spouse Kim Geon-hee Regarding Deutsche Motors' was passed with 180 votes in favor out of 180 members present, led by the opposition party.
Earlier, the 'Act on the Appointment of a Special Prosecutor to Investigate the Bribery Allegations of the Hwacheon Daeyu 5 Billion Club Incident' also passed unanimously with 181 votes in favor out of 181 members present.

A Presidential Office official pointed out, "Until now, special prosecutors have been handled through bipartisan agreement," adding, "Even when the opposition appointed them, it was done with bipartisan consensus."
The official also criticized, "There have been briefings on investigation situations in the past, but this seems to be the first time a bill has been passed so blatantly targeting an election right before the election."
