Xiaomi Unveils Electric Car: "Will Become a Top 5 Global Automaker Within 15 Years"
Xiaomi announced its goal to become one of the world's top five automobile manufacturers within 15 years at a technology conference unveiling its first pure electric vehicle model.
According to local media including China Economic Net on the 28th, Lei Jun, Chairman of Xiaomi, stated at the electric vehicle technology conference held in Beijing, "We want to become one of the top five automobile manufacturers worldwide within the next 15 to 20 years." Chairman Lei emphasized, "Today marks 1003 days since Xiaomi declared its entry into the electric vehicle industry," adding, "Xiaomi's goal is to create dream cars that compete with Porsche and Tesla."

He further explained, "Through these efforts, we will leap to become one of the world's top five automobile manufacturers," and "We will create smart spaces that are visually appealing, easy to drive, comfortable, and safe."
At the conference, Chairman Lei announced the development of the Xiaomi Super Motor V8s, an electric motor with a performance of 27,200 rpm. He added that its power density surpasses that of Tesla and Porsche, and that it will be installed in complete vehicles by 2025 through in-house research and production.

View original imagePrior to the conference, Xiaomi revealed the first real-life photos of its first pure electric vehicle model, the Xiaomi SU7. This is the first time photos of the SU7 have been released beyond concept cars or spy shots. The SU7 is scheduled for official launch in January next year. The new vehicle is a mid-to-large sized pure electric car, and the photos released show a Gulf Blue color model. The front features triangular headlights and unique LED lighting clusters, while the sides adopt a coupe-style line. The rear applies a liftable electric rear spoiler and a through-type taillight design.

The power system is reported to include two battery pack options of 73.6 kWh and 101 kWh, with Xiaomi stating a maximum driving range of 800 km on a single full charge. The model unveiled that day is equipped with multi-piston brake calipers, large wheels, and a panoramic canopy. The vehicle operating system is Hyper OS, developed in-house by Xiaomi.
