Seong Tae-yoon, Yonsei University Professor, Expected as New Policy Director
Kim Dae-gi, the Chief of Staff to the President, is reported to be resigning on the 28th.
According to ruling party sources, President Yoon plans to replace Chief Kim in the afternoon and appoint Lee Gwan-seop, the Director of Policy at the Presidential Office, as his successor.
Lee was promoted to the newly established position of Director of Policy at the Presidential Office on the 30th of last month, and less than a month later, he is moving to the Chief of Staff position.
With Lee's move, the Director of Policy position will become vacant, and it is reported that Professor Sung Tae-yoon of Yonsei University's Department of Economics has been nominated. Professor Sung graduated from Yonsei University's Department of Economics and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University.
For the successor to Cho Tae-yong, the Director of National Security who has been nominated as the Director of the National Intelligence Service, Jang Ho-jin, the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and an expert on the U.S., North Korean nuclear issues, and Russia, is expected to be appointed.
