Lee Jun-seok: "If the special prosecutor's investigation is a sanctuary, it will be like the day Wu Zetian is enthroned"
"The one who refuses a special prosecutor is the culprit,"
Double special prosecutor vote in the plenary session on the 28th
Former leader Lee Jun-seok, who left the People Power Party and declared the formation of a new party, compared First Lady Kim Geon-hee to Wu Zetian, the Chinese empress, ahead of the National Assembly vote on the special prosecutor law concerning Kim on the 28th.
On the day, Lee posted on his social media, "For the team whose fate is to create a political investigation atmosphere by emphasizing 'investigation without sanctuary' ahead of the general election, it would be ironic to have to reluctantly create a sanctuary in today's special prosecutor law vote at the National Assembly plenary session." He continued, "If the party that had the motto 'those who refuse the special prosecutor are the culprits' now shifts to the position that the special prosecutor law is a malicious law based on propaganda and agitation, and if this is not due to communal values like party interests but because the subject of the special prosecutor is a sanctuary, then today will be the day of enthroning Wu Zetian."
Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok held a press conference at a restaurant in Nowon-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 27th, announcing his departure from the People Power Party and his future political plans.

On the same day, the so-called 'double special prosecutor law' (special prosecutors for First Lady Kim Geon-hee's stock manipulation allegations and the Daejang-dong 5 billion won club) will be put to a vote in the National Assembly plenary session. The ruling party has labeled it a 'malicious law to disrupt the general election situation' and expressed a refusal to accept it, but with the opposition holding more than 180 seats, it is expected to be difficult to block the bill.
