Helping Busanhang Village and Promoting Seafood Consumption... BPA Earns 'Rural ESG Recognition' for 2 Consecutive Years
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) has been selected as a ‘Rural ESG Recognized Company’ for the second consecutive year.
The Rural ESG Recognition System is a program by the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries that evaluates and recognizes the ESG efforts and achievements of companies and institutions promoting win-win cooperation activities with rural areas.
Busan Port Authority annually contributes to the Rural Win-Win Cooperation Fund and promotes win-win cooperation activities with fishing villages near Busan Port.
In collaboration with the Busan Fishing Village Specialized Center (Korea Fisheries Resources Agency), BPA supports the Dongsam Fishing Village Cooperative in Yeongdo-gu, the Sinpyeong Fishing Village Cooperative in Gijang-gun, and the Dadae Village Cooperative in Saha-gu by providing facilities for separated collection of discarded fishing gear, supporting the production of seafood meal kits, and offering capacity-building education for fishermen.
Additionally, using the welfare fund from the solar power generation project in the New Port hinterland complex, BPA provides heating and cooling appliances to energy-vulnerable households in nearby areas.
In October, BPA held the ‘Dahamhge Chachacha’ seafood consumption promotion charity event together with Busan Port container terminal operators, using the sales proceeds to provide meals for children from low-income families.
