Gang Arrested for Stealing Goods Worth 400 Million Won from Old Apartments
"There is a risk of escape"
The court has issued arrest warrants for a gang that targeted only vulnerable older apartments and stole valuables worth hundreds of millions of won.
On the 27th, the Seoul Eastern District Court issued arrest warrants for two men in their 40s, including Mr. A, on charges of special theft, and Mr. B, who was involved in disposing of stolen goods and fleeing, citing "risk of flight." Earlier that day, at around 2 p.m., a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review hearing) was conducted for them.
According to the Seoul Gangseo Police Station, they are suspected of breaking into older apartments in Gangnam-gu, Yongsan-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, from the 11th to the 19th, by prying open entrance doors and stealing cash and precious metals worth about 400 million won.
Police investigation revealed that they targeted older apartments in Seoul with weak security. One member would ring the doorbell to confirm the house was empty, then break the entrance door and enter to steal valuables. So far, a total of nine households have been confirmed as victims.
On the morning of the 24th, the police first arrested one suspect in Gangwon-do, and on the same day, arrested two others hiding in a motel in Incheon one after another.
