Gumi 1st National Industrial Complex Regeneration Project Progressing Smoothly... Focusing on Strengthening Competitiveness
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk is accelerating the promotion of regeneration projects to enhance the competitiveness of the Gumi 1st National Industrial Complex, which has been completed for over 50 years, and to refurbish aging infrastructure.
This regeneration project, implemented with national funding support from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, aims to expand and refurbish insufficient infrastructure such as roads, parking lots, and parks, as the 1st National Industrial Complex was originally developed mainly for industrial facility sites. The project provides a pleasant industrial complex urban environment for the aging industrial complex.
The total project cost is 42.9 billion KRW. The regeneration plan and implementation plan were completed in 2017. Starting in 2018, road maintenance on Export Boulevard and the Green Network project (L=2.5 km) began, and parking lots (151 spaces) and small parks (A=1,223㎡) within the industrial complex were completed.
This year, two parks within the complex [Neighborhood Park (A=7,606㎡), Small Park (A=1,234㎡)] were created to provide rest areas for workers and improve working conditions. In particular, the road expansion construction on the 1st Industrial Complex Road section (Homeplus to Startup Incubation Center), where traffic congestion is severe during commuting hours due to combined straight and left-turn lanes, will introduce a dedicated left-turn lane, which is expected to greatly improve vehicle flow.
