Experience Museum Exhibits with Children
President Yoon Suk-yeol attended the opening ceremony of the National Children's Museum on the 26th and expressed his hope that children would be able to freely engage in activities and nurture their dreams.
President Yoon made these remarks during his congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony of the National Children's Museum held in Sejong Special Self-Governing City that afternoon. Since May, President Yoon has participated in various children-related events, including the opening event of the Yongsan Children's Garden.
About 100 people attended the opening ceremony, including children and families from Sejong City and the Chungcheong region, experts who contributed to the establishment of the museum, Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Kim Hyung-ryeol, Administrator of the Administrative City Construction Agency, and Choi Min-ho, Mayor of Sejong Special Self-Governing City.
At the event, President Yoon sat together with the children while delivering his speech. He explained, "The Children's Museum is not just a place where old things are displayed for viewing, but a place where children can experience, touch, and even work with the exhibited items. The reason we created the Children's Museum is to encourage children to dream and imagine a lot."
He continued, "It was made so that you can grow your dreams and imagination. It is different from other museums. Even though it is cold in winter now, don't just stay inside because of the cold. You should pester your dad and mom to go outside, and run and play a lot with your friends to become a great child," encouraging them.
President Yoon added, "Most of what the grandfather president does is for children. Developing this country is also to create conditions so that when you grow up and participate in society, you can live a healthier, more fun, and enjoyable life."
Throughout his speech, President Yoon communicated with the children by asking if they had a good Christmas and if they had visited the museum. After the speech, he held the children's hands and moved to the exhibition facilities, personally experiencing the urban construction puzzle corner and more.
The National Children's Museum is the first museum to open in the National Museum Complex located in the heart of Sejong City and is Korea's first independent national children's museum.
The National Children's Museum has organized exhibitions on various themes such as urban architecture and cultural heritage from the perspective of children, and the Presidential Office explained that it is expected to attract 180,000 visitors annually.
