Jeongeup-si Secures 564.8 Billion KRW in National Budget for Next Year... Momentum for Ongoing Projects

Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 26th that it has secured 564.8 billion KRW in national budget for next year, an increase of 17.1 billion KRW (3.1%) compared to 547.7 billion KRW the previous year.

This figure exceeds the government budget growth rate (2.8%) and is a valuable achievement made under challenging domestic and international conditions such as tax revenue decline and economic recession concerns.

Since the beginning of the year, the city has actively engaged in efforts to secure the national budget by continuously visiting central government ministries, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the National Assembly to explain the validity and necessity of projects.

The major new national budget projects for next year include ▲Construction of Jeongeup Intangible Cultural Heritage Transmission Education Center ▲Establishment of Advanced Analysis System for Green Bio Materials ▲Urban Regeneration Project around Gaksidari Site in Jangmyeong-dong (Our Neighborhood Revitalization) ▲Steep Slope Maintenance Project in Suseong 2 and 3 Districts ▲Installation of Rural Village Sewage System in Maejuk, Sannae-myeon, among 16 projects totaling 103.9 billion KRW in total project cost.

The city explained that it has secured the necessary budget for building basic infrastructure, sustainable development of advanced industries, creating a safe and pleasant living environment for residents, and expanding various cultural experience spaces.

In addition, for pending issues and strong projects not reflected in next year’s budget proposal, the city plans to actively respond by reinforcing the logic of validity and necessity so that they can be included in the 2025 budget proposal.

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “To revitalize the declining local economy and respond to population decline, we will do our best to discover new projects and develop policies that contribute to long-term development, such as job creation, support for childbirth and childcare, activation of return-to-farming and return-to-village, and expansion of welfare in preparation for aging.” He added, “Next year as well, we will stand at the center of the citizens and create a newly soaring Jeongeup City.”
