Civil Servant Award Ceremony Held by Presidential Handshake for the First Time in 5 Years
55 Civil Servants Including 3 Medal Recipients Awarded
Yoon Urges "Visit Sites Frequently"
President Yoon Suk-yeol promised on the 26th, "We will improve the treatment and working conditions of public officials who dedicate themselves to the people."
On the same day, President Yoon attended the '9th Korea Civil Servant Awards Ceremony' held at the Government Sejong Convention Center and presented the awards in person. The Presidential Office reported that he said, "Let us unite our efforts to create a country where the people are happy."
This awards ceremony was conducted by the president in person for the first time in five years, and for the first time ever, Cabinet members attended together to celebrate the recipients.
At the event, President Yoon emphasized, "The dedication of all public officials is a great asset to the people and the Republic of Korea," and urged, "Please visit the field frequently and listen carefully so as not to miss even a single breath of the people."
Earlier that morning, at the Cabinet meeting he presided over, President Yoon also urged public officials to actively carry out administration focused on people's livelihood and to remove barriers between ministries.
The Korea Civil Servant Awards have been held annually since 2015 to boost the pride and morale of public officials working on the front lines for the nation and its people.
This year, reflecting the main national policy goals, a total of 55 recipients were selected across four categories: ▲Common Sense and Fairness ▲Dynamic Economy ▲Warm Companionship ▲Autonomy and Creativity. The public directly participated in the selection process this year through public recommendations and evaluations by a citizen evaluation panel.
Hong Seok-gu, an official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, who introduced a differential pricing system for raw milk based on its usage through active communication with the dairy industry, was honored with the Green Stripes Order of Service Merit.
Additionally, Police Lieutenant Oh Hyuk-jin of Changwon Coast Guard, who arrested nine suspects involved in technology leakage worth approximately 83 billion won through persistent investigation, and Fire Captain Han Jeong-min of the Seoul Special City 119 Special Rescue Unit, who has devoted himself to rescue operations at disaster sites for 20 years, received the Blue Stripes Order of Service Merit.
Furthermore, 52 other public officials received the Order of Service Merit, Presidential Citation, and Prime Minister Citation.
