Gangseo-gu Receives Seoul Mayor's Award for Dementia Management Project Performance Evaluation
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 26th that the Gangseo-gu Dementia Safety Center won the Seoul Metropolitan Mayor's Award, the grand prize, for the second consecutive year at the 2023 Seoul Dementia Management Project Performance Evaluation Specialized Project Competition.
This recognition was awarded for their leadership in the ‘Customized Home Care’ focused case management for early-stage dementia patients and the ‘Cognitive Rehabilitation Education Program Distribution’ utilizing community care. Jeong Ji-hyang, director of the Gangseo-gu Dementia Safety Center, stated, “It is meaningful that our efforts to promote health and prevent dementia in early-stage dementia patients were recognized in the Seoul Dementia Management Project Performance Evaluation.”
The Gangseo-gu Dementia Safety Center’s program, ‘Beyond Dementia to a Sustainable Daily Life, Daily Life Keeper & Memory Fill U,’ was designed for early-stage dementia patients who are likely to exhibit sudden behavioral changes in daily life.
The ‘Daily Life Keeper’ program is a one-on-one customized home care service aimed at maintaining the remaining functions and recovering impaired functions of early-stage dementia patients diagnosed with dementia. The program is operated with components including ▲home-based one-on-one customized programs ▲home environment modification ▲healing palace tours in daily life ▲and the Green Memory Cafe.
The ‘Memory Fill U’ program, a home education course using YouTube, helps activate brain cognitive activities and prevent dementia among elderly people who have difficulty visiting the center. Anyone in the district can watch it on the YouTube channel ‘Gangseo-gu Dementia Safety Center Cognitive Activity Study Room,’ where 180 videos related to flexible dance, healthy laughter, and cognitive activities are being produced sequentially according to beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
‘Memory Fill U’ is not only used in Gangseo-gu but also serves as cognitive education material at dementia safety centers nationwide, contributing to bridging educational gaps between regions.
