UN Peace Village Holds Memorial Event for Veterans Under the Theme 'Heroes Who Pledged Their Hearts'
Over 200 Participants Including Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans, Their Families, and Local Residents
The United Nations Peace Village Foundation held a gratitude event on the 23rd at the Gamrimsan Prayer Center in Yangsan under the theme "Heroes Who Supported the Heart," inviting veterans and families who participated in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
This event was held to express sincere gratitude to the heroes who sacrificed for the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea.
About 200 veterans, local residents, and volunteers from the United Nations Peace Village participated in the event.
The first part of the event began with video messages from National Assembly member Choi Jae-hyung, Governor Park Wan-su of Gyeongsangnam-do, and Mayor Na Dong-yeon of Yangsan, followed by introductions of veterans, awarding of peace medals, and gift presentations.
Assemblyman Choi said, “The Republic of Korea stands on the dedication that came from countries around the world to protect freedom and democracy,” adding, “I thank the veterans who risked their lives to fight and the families who willingly supported them. I pay my respects to everyone attending this meaningful occasion.”
Governor Park stated, “The prosperity we enjoy today is because of the sacrifices of the veterans,” and added, “Gyeongsangnam-do will continue its administration to uphold the pride of veterans and to become a society that respects them even more.”
Mayor Na expressed, “I thank the United Nations Peace Village for preparing this event,” and said, “We are currently experiencing the grief of survivors due to wars in various countries around the world, making this a time to appreciate everyday peace even more. We must never forget the heroes who dedicated themselves to protecting the country,” adding, “Yangsan city administration will continue to remember your courage and sacrifice.”
On the 24th, Jeong In-su, chairman of the UN Peace Village, is presenting a Peace Medal to a war veteran.

The freedom and peace we enjoy now are all because of the heroes who risked their lives for the Republic of Korea,” and added, “We will engrave the values of freedom and peace more deeply and teach them well to the next generation.”
Jung In-su, chairman of the United Nations Peace Village, said, “I am grateful to hold this meaningful event with the veterans,” adding, “As the weather gets colder, I think more of those who suffered during the Korean War. The United Nations Peace Village will not forget the horrors of war and will promote that spirit so that future generations can live with pride in the developed homeland, the Republic of Korea.”
The second part of the event included congratulatory performances such as worship by the Chanmi Community, a Nanta performance by the Haneul Sori Mission Group, and vocal music by Professor Lee Jeong-sil, followed by a banquet.
