The person of the year for 2023, announced by the world's largest search engine Google Search, is Damar Hamlin (25, Buffalo Bills), who miraculously returned after collapsing from a cardiac arrest in the North American professional football (NFL).
The 'search term of the year' is selected based on the search terms that saw the highest increase in traffic compared to the previous year.

Earlier, Hamlin lost consciousness after attempting a tackle during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals held in January. Thanks to the quick cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the Buffalo team trainer, Hamlin survived, and later returned to the team with indomitable will, receiving much congratulations.
He was also selected as the recipient of the George Halas Award, given to those who overcome adversity.

Professional tennis player Novak Djokovic (Serbia), who ranked 1st in last year's tally, dropped to 6th place this year.

Earlier, Korean-related keywords such as ‘Bibimbap’ and ‘The Glory’ were prominently included in Google's global search rankings for the year, drawing attention. In the recipe (cooking method) category, ‘Bibimbap’ ranked 1st globally, revealing the high interest of people worldwide in Korean cuisine. Spain's Espeto and Indonesia's Papeda followed.
