Imsil-gun to Hold 'Sunrise Festival' at Guksabong, Okjeongho Lake

Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 22nd that it will hold the 13th Guksabong Sunrise Festival on January 1st next year at the Guksabong parking lot located in Ipseok-ri, Unam-myeon, to celebrate the New Year of Gapjin.

Guksabong, which offers a panoramic view of Okjeongho, is the best sunrise spot in Jeollabuk-do. The red sun rising above the thick mist on Okjeongho Lake creates a unique charm different from the sun seen at the mountains and the sea.

The event, starting at 6 a.m. and lasting about two hours, will proceed in the order of an acoustic guitar performance, fusion percussion performance, fireworks, opening ceremony, and New Year’s prayer ceremony.

Various attractions are also prepared, including hanging New Year wish cards to welcome the Year of the Blue Dragon, a suspension bridge photo zone, and free warm rice cake soup distribution.

Anticipating a large crowd for the sunrise event, the county has established a safety management plan and is building an organic cooperation system through a safety management working committee with related organizations such as Imsil Police Station and Imsil Fire Station, as well as pre-event safety inspections, focusing all efforts on on-site safety management.

To prevent crowd congestion at the same time, safety management personnel will be stationed at the Guksabong observatory and various locations throughout the event site.

In particular, to alleviate vehicle congestion, shuttle buses will operate from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. (between Ssangam-ri next to Unam Elementary School, in front of Ipseoksanjang ↔ event site), and traffic and parking management personnel will be intensively deployed to prevent accidents and enhance convenience for tourists visiting the festival.
