Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, is making hot pack scarves together with volunteers.
View original imageOn the morning of the 20th, when a severe cold wave hit, about 20 residents gathered in the 10th-floor meeting room of Mapo-gu Office, rubbing their frozen hands.
They were volunteers from the Mapo-gu Volunteer Center who came to the district office to participate in the 'Making Love Hot Pack Scarves' event for neighbors in need this winter.
This activity is a winter-focused volunteer effort conducted by the Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) Volunteer Center to help vulnerable residents in the area stay warm during the cold season. This year, they especially agreed to produce and deliver 'hot pack scarves.'
About 20 volunteer camp leaders and volunteers from each neighborhood participated, donating their talents. Mayor Park Gang-su also joined the volunteering, sewing scarves himself and warmly encouraging the volunteers who joined for their neighbors despite the cold wave.
Notably, the hot pack scarves made that day were directly designed and patented by Mayor Park Gang-su for field workers such as environmental officers working in the severe cold, drawing particular attention.
The volunteers sewed the scarf fabric modeled after this design and decorated it to match the year-end Christmas atmosphere.
Jeon Jeong-mi, president of the volunteer camp, expressed, “We hope the hot pack scarves made by the volunteers will warm the bodies and hearts of neighbors enduring the cold winter, even if just a little.”
The hot pack scarves made by the volunteers will be delivered to about 200 basic livelihood security recipients and low-income neighbors in the area, along with warmth packages containing de-icing agents, masks, and sleeping socks.

Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu said, “I hope our neighbors can feel the warm care and affection of the community through the hot pack scarves carefully made stitch by stitch by the volunteers.
