Democratic Party's 'Unqualified' Judgment... Lee Kyung: "I Did Not Commit Retaliatory Driving, It's a Witch Hunt"
The Democratic Party of Korea on the 20th declared former full-time deputy spokesperson Lee Kyung ineligible as a candidate for the general election due to a fine imposed for retaliatory driving charges. In response, Lee Kyung claimed that he did not engage in retaliatory driving and announced his intention to file an objection.
On the 21st, Lee Kyung stated on his social media (SNS), "I did not commit retaliatory driving. I have never confessed. The verdict came only now, as the general election approaches, for an incident that happened two years ago."

Lee Kyung also said, "The verdict document I requested from the court was reported first by Chosun Ilbo (TV Chosun) before I, the party involved, even received it, and for several days the media reported it like a witch hunt. The fact that I said on the very day the police first called two years ago, 'I will appear at the police station immediately,' was not reported anywhere."
He continued, "The police wrote a false report, and the prosecution did not accept my evidence records that refuted the false report. A person who has not driven like that for 20 years has absolutely no reason to create such a nasty situation during the presidential spokesperson period. The Democratic Party deleted the clause stating 'candidacy will be excluded if found guilty in the first trial.' Since I received an unfair first trial verdict, I am appealing and preparing for the second trial," he raised his voice.

Lee Kyung was prosecuted in 2021 on charges of retaliatory driving (special intimidation) and was fined 5 million won by the court. During the trial, he argued that the person responsible for the retaliatory driving was not himself but a substitute driver, but this was not accepted. On the 19th, on the YouTube channel 'Saenal,' he also denied the charges, saying, "Would a female driver have committed retaliatory driving at 10 p.m.?"
