LG Electronics "Scheduled for Release in First Half of Next Year"
LG Electronics announced on the 20th that it will showcase the tumbler washer 'Mycup' at CES 2024, held in Las Vegas, USA, in January next year. Mycup is a product that allows easy and clean washing of tumblers instead of disposable cups in cafes, offices, and public places. LG Electronics has combined the differentiated performance and technical know-how of DIOS dishwashers to present this product.

The company developed Mycup as part of its ESG management practice for 'Better Life for all.' According to a report released by the international environmental protection organization Greenpeace, 8.4 billion disposable cups are discarded annually in South Korea. Replacing disposable cups with reusable cups can reduce domestic greenhouse gas emissions by more than 250,000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually. This corresponds to the amount of carbon emitted by 92,000 internal combustion engine vehicles over one year.
Mycup can be used by installing the 'Mycup' app on a smartphone. Users visiting a location equipped with Mycup open the top door of the washer, invert the tumbler inside, close the door, and select the desired course from the app. There are two courses available. The 'Quick Course' provides fast washing within 30 seconds, and the 'Thorough Course' offers more thorough washing and drying, especially when dairy products are attached. Both courses clean the tumbler with high-temperature water at about 65 degrees Celsius.
During the product development process, LG Electronics surveyed user opinions and, based on requests to wash not only the inside but also the outside and lid of tumblers, applied multi-directional washing blades to clean both the interior and exterior simultaneously. Additionally, to enable efficient space utilization for business (B2B) customers, the company pursued a slim and compact design. A subscription service will also be provided to help maintain the product in optimal condition.

LG Electronics is working to popularize the culture of tumbler use by promoting the product. To directly hear customer feedback and develop the product, Mycup is being piloted in cafes, offices, and universities. In particular, since last year, the product has been installed and tested in some Starbucks stores (Gyeongdong1960, Sookmyung Women's University Main Gate, Korea University Anam Hospital, Gwanghwamun Kyobo Bookstore, Changwon-daero DT).
