[Breaking] Prosecution Seeks 8-Month Prison Sentence for Changwon Mayor Hong Nampyo on Election Law Violation Charges
On the 18th, the prosecution requested an 8-month prison sentence for Hong Nampyo, the Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, who was indicted on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act, at a trial held at the Changwon District Court in Gyeongnam.
For Mr. A and Mr. B, who face the same charges as Mayor Hong, the prosecution requested prison sentences of 8 months and 4 months, respectively.

Earlier, Mayor Hong and Mr. A were accused of conspiring after learning that Mr. B intended to run as a preliminary candidate for the People Power Party's Changwon mayoral election ahead of last year's nationwide local elections, and promising public office to join Mayor Hong's election campaign, who was then a preliminary candidate.
