Seocho Residents Choose This Year's Top News: 'OK Minwon Center' Armed with Smart Technology
1st Place: Reopening of Smart OK Civil Service Center & Nationwide First Digital Civil Service Window, 2nd Place: Seasonal and Themed Festivals & 'Seoripul Festival', 3rd Place: Establishment of 'Bangbae Forest Environmental Library' Transforming Life through Environment and Culture
This year, the number one ‘Seocho Top 10 News’ chosen directly by Seocho-gu residents was the ‘Reopening of the Smart OK Civil Service Center and the Operation of the Nation’s First Digital Civil Service Window.’
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced the ‘Seocho Top 10 News’ that resonated most with residents and shone the brightest this year through an online vote held from the 28th of last month to the 12th of this month on the 15th.
The first-place winner, ‘Reopening of the Smart OK Civil Service Center and the Operation of the Nation’s First Digital Civil Service Window,’ saw the OK Civil Service Center revamped with digital technology and reborn as a smart civil service office after 17 years in July. Additionally, the ‘Electronic Civil Service Form Creation System,’ which allows residents to fill out civil service application forms via smartphone through QR codes and send them directly to the staff’s PC, was established for the first time among local governments nationwide, reducing waiting times and improving work efficiency. In particular, it achieved effects such as ‘administrative cost reduction’ by shortening processing times by about 50% compared to before. Due to these efforts, it was the only Seoul local government to receive the grand prize at the ‘Digital Local Government Best Practice Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last month.
The second place went to the ‘Seoripul Festival,’ which heated up Banpodaero with seasonal and themed festivals and music. Especially, the ‘Seoripul Festival’ held on Banpodaero for the first time in four years realized a ‘festival of emotion and dignity’ where 120,000 people received musical gifts, earning great responses from residents.
The third place was the ‘Bangbae Forest Environmental Library Construction,’ which opened in June. This nature-friendly library, with Seoripul Neighborhood Park as its backyard, has established itself as a popular space visited by an average of 1,300 residents daily.
The fourth place was awarded to the ‘Yangjae Public Parking Lot,’ which combined parking with resident convenience facilities. By expanding the existing parking space by about twice, it resolved parking difficulties and enhanced resident convenience through various cultural complex facilities such as the Single-Person Household Support Center, Yangjae Maternal and Child Health Center, and Kids Cafe Seoripul Nori School. The fifth place was the ‘Youth Gallery,’ where young artists’ works are displayed in neighborhood cafes, bus stops, and distribution boxes, providing exhibition space for young artists and everyday cultural spaces for residents.
