Kim Ki-hyun's Resignation... Hong Joon-pyo Says "Yongsan Red Guards Must Also Be Disbanded"
Following the resignation news of Kim Gi-hyeon, the leader of the People Power Party, Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu who had called for his resignation, hinted at the need to purge pro-Yoon (친윤) faction members by stating, "The Yongsan Red Guards must also be dealt with."
On the 14th, Mayor Hong said on his social media (SNS), "One should not engage in menjongbokbae (面從腹背: outwardly obedient but secretly betraying) politics. One should not practice gamtangoto (甘呑苦吐: swallowing the sweet and spitting out the bitter) politics. One should not engage in baeunmangdeok (背恩亡德: forgetting kindness and betraying)."
He added, "Such politics leads to a miserable end. Take this opportunity to clean up those Yongsan and leadership Red Guards who have been acting recklessly without knowing their place," and said, "Get rid of those with bad tendencies before a greater disaster comes. Those kinds of people have brought the party to this state."

The term "Yongsan, leadership Red Guards" is interpreted as referring to pro-Yoon faction members. Mayor Hong, who competed against President Yoon in the last presidential primary but lost, has repeatedly targeted pro-Yoon faction members. Last month, through SNS, he raised his voice, saying, "Since the Yoon Seok-yeol government took office, the so-called self-proclaimed pro-Yoon group has been acting arrogantly within the party, even among first-term and non-parliamentary members, relying on the president’s backing, and their misconduct has become serious."
