Hamyang-gun Wins Top Award in Forest Management Sector of Forestry Resources Field
Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 14th that it won the top prize in the forest management category in the 2023 forest resource evaluation conducted by Gyeongnam Province.
This award is significant as it marks the second consecutive year of winning, following the encouragement award in 2022, showing continuous improvement over the years.
The forest resource evaluation is conducted annually under the supervision of the Gyeongsangnam-do Forest Management Division, assessing how well our forests are managed in a healthy and eco-friendly manner.
The evaluation criteria include common indicators such as budget execution performance in the forest resource sector, promotional achievements, appropriateness of project selection, thoroughness of project design, appropriateness of construction, and compliance with implementation guidelines. It also covers self-reported data such as the establishment of forest management and safety and health management plans, completion of public forest management job training and occurrence of safety accidents, timing of weeding in afforestation sites and vine removal performance, and input rate of private forest management information systems.
The good results in this evaluation were achieved because Hamyang-gun smoothly promoted the ‘Public-Private Cooperation Forest Management Pilot Project,’ working together with the Hamyang-gun Forestry Cooperative, which has a foundation of forestry workers, accurate forest site management, timely post-management of afforestation sites, and professional personnel capable of forest management.
