Gokseong-gun Launches Joint Public-Private-Academic Response to Local Extinction Crisis
Holding Strategic Meeting on Local Extinction Response Promotion System
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) held the "5th Strategic Meeting for the Local Extinction Response Promotion System" to establish an organic network among the public, private, industry, and academia sectors, jointly respond to the local extinction crisis, and gather opinions related to fund project strategic tasks and planning.
The meeting held on the 13th was attended by about 30 people, including members of the "Public-Private-Industry-Academia Cooperation Working Council," launched last November, from Gokseong Office of Education, Jeonnam Science University, NH Nonghyup, Kumho Tire, private organizations, as well as the governor, deputy governor, and senior officials of Gokseong-gun.
The meeting shared the achievements of the past year, including the progress of fund projects in 2022-2023 and the 2024 Gokseong-gun local extinction response investment plan finalized last November. Preparing for the coming year, participants discussed the operational plan for the local extinction response promotion system strategic meetings and various opinions related to fund projects, serving as a communication channel for the local extinction response promotion system.
Governor Lee Sang-cheol of Gokseong-gun said, "I am very pleased that the Public-Private-Industry-Academia Cooperation Group, launched last year to overcome the local extinction crisis together, is sailing smoothly by holding regular meetings through five strategic meetings this year." He added, "To create a happier Gokseong for residents and an attractive Gokseong where people stay and visit, I will strive to establish better policies by synthesizing the diverse opinions and interests of the committee members present here."
Meanwhile, Gokseong-gun received an A grade in the 2024 local extinction response fund investment plan evaluation, securing 11.2 billion KRW in the basic account. Including the 9 billion KRW from the Jeollanam-do metropolitan account, the total amount secured reached 20.2 billion KRW, the largest amount in the province.
