Jeon Seung-il, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, announced on the 13th that the 'Ordinance Amendment on the Payment of Council Members' Legislative Activity Expenses, etc.' was passed in the relevant standing committee.
The ordinance includes provisions to restrict not only legislative activity expenses and travel allowances but also the payment of monthly fixed allowances when disciplining council members.
Councilor Jeon emphasized, "With the Local Autonomy Act being fully revised and the introduction of the Policy Support Officer system, we will strive to gain residents' trust through responsible legislative activities in line with legal amendments and institutional improvements to strengthen the capabilities of local councils adapting to the new era."
