Mokpo Coast Guard Handles Total of 8 Emergency Cases Over Weekend and Holidays
Three Emergency Patient Transfers from Island Villages Keep Maritime Safety and Hazardous Vessel Management Busy
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) announced on the 11th that it handled a total of 8 emergency cases, including emergency patients occurring in island areas and at sea during the past weekend holidays.
On the 9th at around 3:45 PM, Mokpo Maritime Police received a report that Mr. A (in his 70s) was injured while using a power saw on Daemado Island, Jindo-gun, and transferred him to the 119 ambulance team via a coastal rescue boat.

Then, on the same day at 5:12 PM, they transported a patient with impaired consciousness, Ms. B (female, in her 80s), from Sangtaedo Island, Sinan-gun, to the mainland using a patrol vessel.
Additionally, on the 10th at 11:53 AM, a report was received that crew member Mr. D (in his 70s) of vessel C (tonnage unknown, fishing vessel) lost consciousness and collapsed near Anmado Island, Yeonggwang-gun. The patrol vessel performed CPR and other emergency treatments while urgently transporting the patient.
Meanwhile, during the weekend, the maritime police conducted close-range radar safety management to prevent secondary accidents for 5 vessels with engine failures and fishing net entanglements, ensuring perfect safety in maritime navigation.
