'2.9 Billion → 23 Billion' Yongin Scholarship Foundation Growing Youth Hope
22nd Anniversary Celebration Ceremony Held
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 11th that it held the 22nd anniversary ceremony of the Yongin Scholarship Foundation on the 8th.
About 80 people, including Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, and Koo Ja-beom, Chairman of the Foundation, attended the ceremony.

View original imageMayor Lee said, "The Yongin Scholarship Foundation, which supports talents responsible for the future of the Republic of Korea, is doing important work in our society," adding, "Since Chairman Koo Ja-beom took office, the scale and scope of the scholarship projects have expanded, giving great hope to young people."
He also said, "If everyone works together for urban development, Yongin City can become a world-class first-rate city," and added, "The city will also make great efforts and provide support for nurturing talents."
At the ceremony, awards and plaques of appreciation were presented to those recognized for their contributions to the development of the foundation. Director Lim Gap-soon of the foundation, advisory committee members Hwang Gyu-yeol and Yoon Sang-soo, and scholarship council members Nam Sung-jin and Jo Eun-soon received mayoral commendations, and two individuals who contributed to the foundation's scholarship fund were presented with chairman’s plaques of appreciation.
Meanwhile, at the ceremony, local companies and institutions donated a total of 117.7 million won to the scholarship fund.

Chairman Koo said, "The fund, which started with 2.9 billion won at the foundation's inception, has grown to 23 billion won, and over 10,000 students have been supported over 22 years," adding, "We will strive to help Yongin grow into a cradle of educational welfare."
