"Please Use It for Neighbors in Need"... Outpouring of Warmth in Gangseo, Seoul
Donations Continue from Various Sectors Including Corporations, Organizations, and Individuals
As the year-end approaches, a wave of donations for the underprivileged in the community continues in Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon).
On the morning of the 8th, the district received daily necessities packages worth 150 million KRW from the Hope Sharing People Association (President Kim Jeong-an).
This donation is the first sharing event following the business agreement signed on the 15th of last month between Gangseo-gu and Hope Sharing People. According to the agreement, Hope Sharing People will donate goods worth a total of 300 million KRW and provide scholarships of 50,000 KRW per month for two years to 20 children from low-income households receiving basic living subsidies.
There are also donors who have been steadily practicing neighborly love for over 10 years. The Kiturami Welfare Foundation (Chairman Kim Mi-hye) donated 100 blankets and 50 carbon mats on the 4th. The total amount of donations over the past 12 years amounts to 190 million KRW.
Baekwang Church in Deungchon-dong (Senior Pastor Lee Hak-seong) donated 1,004 bags of 10kg rice. Since 2012, the total rice donated weighs approximately 120 tons.
Companies and organizations are also lending their support. Ionis (CEO Jang Seok-woon) donated plug-type air purifiers worth 170 million KRW, and the Gangseo Rotary Club (President Kim Beom-yeol) donated daily necessities packages worth 26 million KRW.
Additionally, MCube Technology (CEO Kim Jeong-hoe) and The Wise Dental Clinic (Director Lim Se-woong) have each expressed their intention to donate 10 million KRW to help those in need.
Professional organizations such as the Saemaul Women's Association, Hope Dream Group, Residents' Autonomy Committee, and the Committee for Right Living are also practicing neighborly love by raising funds for helping neighbors and holding love-filled kimchi sharing events.
District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “I deeply thank everyone who has extended warmth to help our neighbors have a warm winter despite the difficult economic situation. We will carefully ensure that the donated funds and goods are properly delivered to the underprivileged in the community.”
