Justice Party "Protect Workers' Rights Harassed by Baseless Feminism Hate"
The Justice Party raised its voice, stating that the 'index finger controversy' in the gaming industry is "groundless speculative cyberbullying by some consumers" and emphasized the need to protect the rights of workers affected by it.
On the 8th, Kim Jun-woo, Emergency Response Committee Chairperson of the Justice Party, said through social media (SNS), "There is a need to protect the rights of workers who are being harassed due to baseless feminist-hating sentiments from some game users."
The 'index finger controversy' erupted as complaints flooded in that the promotional videos of famous game companies such as Nexon included the index finger shape, one of the symbols of the feminist community 'Megalia.' Major game companies took down the promotional videos, and the Justice Party pointed out that there was pressure on the outsourcing companies and animators known to have produced the videos during this process.
Chairperson Kim criticized, "In response to groundless speculative cyberbullying by some consumers, game companies did not respond based on the truth but instead intensified the distortion of the issue through unreasonable power abuse rather than resolving the incident." He added, "The behavior of primary contractors who make outsourcing companies, which have committed no wrongdoing, victims of cyberbullying cannot be overlooked."
He also said, "Reflection from the political sphere is urgent. There are numerous politicians who made statements 'without investigation' regarding this incident. It is time for civil society to sound the alarm against the trend of making remarks to increase their political recognition rather than accurately understanding the situation and solving the problem." He concluded, "The Justice Party will passionately unite to create a world where an individual's orientation is not a reason for violence and hatred."
