Xi Jinping to Make State Visit to Vietnam on December 12-13
Invitation to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the President
Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Vietnam on the 12th and 13th of this month.
Hua Chunying, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced on the ministry's website on the 7th that "President Xi will make a state visit to Vietnam on the 12th and 13th at the invitation of Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Vo Van Thuong, President of Vietnam."
During the briefing, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "During this visit, President Xi will hold separate talks with General Secretary Nguyen and President Vo, and will meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue."
It added, "The two countries will explore and upgrade the new status of China-Vietnam relations and promote deeper and more substantial cooperation in six key areas: politics, security, practical cooperation, public opinion foundation, multilateralism, and maritime issues."
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, "China and Vietnam are socialist neighboring countries," noting that "at the end of last year, at President Xi's invitation, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited China and outlined the blueprint for a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam. Since the beginning of this year, frequent high-level exchanges and deepening cooperation in various fields have brought tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries." It also stated, "Strengthening unity and friendship between China and Vietnam contributes to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world."

Earlier, on the 2nd, Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister, visited Vietnam to discuss ways to enhance bilateral exchanges, including expanding local investment. This visit has been analyzed as part of the preparatory work for President Xi's state visit later this year.
