Xi Jinping Urges EU to Become "Mutually Beneficial and Cooperative Partner"
Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized on the 7th that "China and Europe should become partners of mutual benefit and cooperation" to the European Union (EU).
According to China Central Television (CCTV), President Xi met with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing that morning, stating the position that "political trust must be continuously enhanced, strategic consensus built, and common interests consolidated."
He said, "All kinds of interference must be removed, and dialogue and cooperation strengthened to benefit the peoples of both sides," proposing cooperation between the EU and China for global stability.
President Xi also emphasized, "Today, the world is undergoing great changes unseen in a century," adding, "China and Europe are forces promoting multipolarity, large markets supporting globalization, and advocates of diversity, and the relationship between the two sides is related to world peace, stability, and prosperity."
