"If you need healing, come to Wando Marine Healing Center"
The Wando-gun Marine Healing Center in Jeollanam-do opened on the 24th of last month as the first of its kind in Korea, marking the beginning of the marine healing industry era in the country.
According to the county on the 7th, the Marine Healing Center consists of a total of 16 therapy rooms across the 1st and 2nd floors. On the 1st floor, there are five therapy rooms in total, including the largest seawater pool called the ‘Thalasso Pool.’
The ‘Thalasso Pool,’ filled with purified seawater drawn from Myeongsasimni Beach in front of the center, offers various aquatic exercises, attracting many visitors.
The Thalasso Pool (from the Greek word meaning ‘sea’) operates aquatic exercise programs led by professional instructors at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., using equipment such as aqua sticks and underwater dumbbells. Additionally, water pressure massages are available through air bubbles and dream baths.
The various aquatic exercises and water pressure massages in the Thalasso Pool help with full-body relaxation, pain relief, and muscle soreness alleviation. Especially, the Thalasso Pool has become a healing spot as it offers a panoramic view of the blue sea of Sinji Myeongsasimni.
Near the Thalasso Pool, there is a ‘Seaweed Foam Therapy Room’ where seaweed extracts are made into foam for massages, a ‘Mud Therapy Room’ where mud collected from Wando is applied to the body to aid toxin elimination and skin improvement, a ‘Meditation Pool’ where one can float on seawater for meditation, and a ‘Seawater Mist Room’ utilizing brine water.
The total usage time for all five therapy rooms on the 1st floor is about two hours. Currently, to commemorate the opening of the Marine Healing Center, a 50% discount event on center usage fees is underway, allowing visitors to use the 1st-floor programs for 18,000 KRW.
Visitors can purchase tickets on-site or make reservations by searching ‘Wando Marine Healing’ in an internet search engine or by clicking ‘Wando Marine Healing’ located at the top left of the Wando County Office website.
A county official stated, “Marine healing is a health promotion activity that uses various marine resources to heal the body and mind. During the pilot operation period, visitor satisfaction exceeded 90%. We hope everyone takes the time to experience marine healing, which can only be done in the pristine sea of Wando, for a healing experience.”
