Japan Includes North Korea's Rocket Industry Department in 'WMD Development Concerned Organizations' List
On the 6th, the Japanese government added 36 foreign organizations, including North Korea's Rocket Industry Department, to the list of entities suspected of developing weapons of mass destruction (WMD) such as nuclear weapons and missiles.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan announced that it had added 36 companies and research institutions from countries including North Korea, China, and Russia to the "foreign user list," which is a list of foreign entities suspected of developing WMDs.
By country, six entities from North Korea, including the Rocket Industry Department which oversees the military industry, were included on the list. Russia and Pakistan each had 11 entities added, and China had seven new additions, including the China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP), the largest nuclear weapons development and production research institute.

The Japanese government has been publishing this list since 2002 and revises it once a year. With the addition of these 36 entities, the list now includes a total of 706 organizations from 15 countries. Export restrictions related to the new list will take effect from the 11th.
