Incheon City Catches 15 Unregistered Food Businesses Operating at Eulwangri Beach
Incheon Special Judicial Police, in collaboration with the Incheon Tourism Police Unit and Jung-gu Office, announced on the 6th that they have caught 15 restaurants operating illegally around Eulwangri Beach for violating the Food Sanitation Act.
The district focused on cracking down on suspected unregistered businesses that had not been inspected or had received complaints in the past two years. The caught restaurants were found to have sold grilled clams, sashimi, coffee, and beverages without registering their business with the jurisdictional Jung-gu Office.
According to the Food Sanitation Act, businesses engaged in food service must register their operations, and violations can result in imprisonment for up to three years or fines up to 30 million KRW. The Special Judicial Police plan to further investigate the illegal activities of the 15 caught restaurants and then refer the cases to the prosecution.
An official from Incheon Special Judicial Police stated, "We will continue to crack down on habitual and chronic illegal activities of unregistered food service businesses to create a safe food environment for tourists visiting Incheon."
