Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Hosts '2023 Jeonnam Global Education Forum'
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education held the '2023 Jeonnam Global Education Forum' to explore new directions for global citizenship education in Jeonnam together with overseas scholars.
The forum took place on the 2nd and 3rd at the Yeosu Venezia Hotel & Resort, with over 500 attendees. Renowned international scholars from various fields shared the status of global citizenship education in their countries and discussed the direction of global future education.
In particular, topics covered included AI-based future education, the role of English as a common language, fostering global citizenship in multiethnic and multicultural countries, and IB-based lesson design.

View original imageProfessor Andrew Moody from the University of Macau explored the theme "What is Future Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," seeking directions for future education aligned with the digital transformation era. Professor Dong-Kwang Shin from Gwangju National University of Education gave a lecture on digital literacy competencies and the future of English learning.
Dr. Anna Woodcock, a world authority in the IB field, provided an overview of IB education. This was followed by case presentations from Daegu International High School and Jeju Pyoseon Middle School, which have implemented IB, offering significant insights for designing Jeonnam's future education curriculum.
Each lecture was simultaneously interpreted to aid attendees' understanding, and a live broadcast was conducted on YouTube for educational families who could not attend in person.

Jung Byung-guk, Director of the Education Autonomy Division, stated, "This forum was a preview of the academic event for the '2024 Korea Glocal Future Education Expo' to be held next year," adding, "We will continue to spare no support to ensure Jeonnam becomes a hub for nurturing future glocal talents."
