Busan City Launches Efforts for Chinese Market Development and Cultural Exchange
April 4-7, Lee Seong-gwon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, Visits and Engages in Activities in Beijing and Shanghai
10th Anniversary of Beijing Friendship Cooperation City Agreement and 30th Anniversary of Shanghai Sister City Partnership
From the 4th to the 7th, Busan City, led by Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Lee Seong-gwon, will carry out activities such as exploring the Chinese market and cultural exchange in Beijing and Shanghai, China.
This activity is taking place to mark the 10th anniversary of the Busan-Beijing friendship cooperation city agreement and the 30th anniversary of the Busan-Shanghai sister city relationship.
Busan City signed a sister city agreement with Shanghai, China, in August 1993, and a friendship cooperation city agreement with Beijing, China, in August 2013.
The main activities include ▲ meetings with high-ranking officials such as vice mayors of Beijing and Shanghai to resume exchange projects after COVID-19 ▲ holding an investment attraction briefing session for Busan City in Beijing and supporting Busan-area companies participating in the 2023 Shanghai Shipbuilding Exhibition ▲ a Korea-China entrepreneurs exchange dinner and commemorative concert.
First, on the morning of the 5th, Deputy Mayor Lee Seong-gwon will meet with high-ranking officials in Beijing to discuss ways to revitalize exchanges between the two cities on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the friendship cooperation city agreement and promote attracting Chinese capital and companies to Busan.
Then, at 11:30 a.m. local time in Beijing, an investment attraction briefing session for Busan City will be held targeting Chinese companies and related organizations, continuing economic cooperation efforts with China to revitalize the regional economy.
The next day, on the 6th, Deputy Mayor Lee will move to Shanghai and meet with the vice mayor of Shanghai to discuss ways to strengthen economic and cultural cooperation to develop the sister city agreement signed in 1993.
After the meeting, he will visit the Busan pavilion at the '2023 China Shanghai Shipbuilding Exhibition' held in Shanghai to encourage participating companies from the Busan area and explore ways to open markets in the Chinese shipbuilding industry.
That evening, he will also attend the 'Korea-China Entrepreneurs Exchange Dinner and Commemorative Concert' to interact with entrepreneurs in the shipbuilding equipment sector from both cities and discuss cooperation plans.
The event will feature a concert commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Busan-Shanghai sister city relationship, with a joint performance by the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, enhancing the significance of the 30th anniversary and presenting a high-quality symphony performance from Busan to the Chinese audience.
Following Beijing, on December 7th, Busan City plans to hold an investment attraction briefing session in Shanghai targeting over 70 Chinese companies, including listed companies.
