Kim Ki-hyun: "Opposition's Reckless Impeachment and Rampant Special Prosecutor Drive Paralyzes National Assembly"
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, criticized on the afternoon of the 3rd at the high-level party-government-national assembly meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong, saying, "The habitual reckless impeachment by the Democratic Party and the reckless special prosecutor's rampage have paralyzed the normal functioning of the National Assembly and continuous obstruction of state affairs is ongoing."
He added, "It is no exaggeration to say that the National Assembly is running wild under the Democratic Party to the extent that reason and common sense have disappeared."
Kim raised the tone of his remarks, saying that 'livelihood bills' continue to pile up, such as missing the legal deadline for budget approval. He claimed, "The Democratic Party still denies the presidential election results and engages in opposition for the sake of opposition in every matter, abusing the legislative power of the National Assembly, and it is no exaggeration to say that legislative violence is rampant."
He also said, "The Democratic Party is engulfed in judicial risks concerning its party leader, and rather than presenting sound and reasonable alternatives, it is expected to provoke even more violent political strife until next year's general election by intimidating judges and prosecutors and binding the media to the opposition side, which is a very worrisome situation."
Finally, he emphasized, "The party and government must strengthen closer communication and teamwork to focus more on taking care of people's livelihoods," adding, "Especially since it is a period of personnel changes, a heavier sense of responsibility is required."
Regarding the failure to attract the Busan Expo, Kim said, "It is truly regrettable and unfortunate," and added, "We will steadily promote projects for the development of Busan such as the Gadukdo New Airport, North Port development, and attracting the Industrial Bank headquarters to Busan. We ask the government to actively participate in these projects."
