Gyeonggi Office of Education to Hold Workshop on Library Roles on the 4th
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will hold a workshop for librarian civil servants on the 4th at the Suwon Southern Office under the theme "Libraries, Connecting the World through Inclusive Communication."
The workshop is organized to explore the role of customized educational libraries according to Gyeonggi education policies and to strengthen the professional expertise of librarian civil servants. The workshop participants include about 170 librarian civil servants from 10 educational libraries in the province, the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Learning Center, 25 educational support offices, and 4 affiliated institutions.
The workshop will be divided into special lectures and case presentations.
First, special lectures will be held under the themes "Librarians Leading the Values of Autonomy, Balance, and Future" and "The Educational Role of Libraries in the New Literacy Era," aiming to realize Gyeonggi's future education based on reading and support students' self-directed and creative growth.
Following this, case presentations will cover topics such as ▲utilization plans for small spaces in educational libraries to create diverse reading environments ▲research on supporting reading activities for out-of-school youth ▲cases of using digital content in the integrated electronic library and promotion strategies.

Jimi-sook, Director of the Lifelong Education Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "This workshop will be an opportunity to explore the roles of educational libraries and librarians in fostering students' future competencies based on reading," adding, "I hope it will be a time to consider ways to enhance students' information literacy and support various reading activities."
