This event was organized to convey a hopeful year-end and New Year atmosphere to all residents, like a tree brightly illuminating its surroundings.
Previously, the district wrapped five 6 to 7-meter tall pine trees, a representative symbol of the government building, and the surrounding flower beds with 100,000 lights to create a rich and uniquely shaped tree. Additionally, the symbolic horn-shaped sculpture ‘Soaring Yangcheon’ at Omok Waterfront Park and nearby flower beds were decorated with lights to form a 15-meter tall tree. The lighting, designed with snowflake and star motifs, expressed the feeling of a snowy Christmas.
Furthermore, Christmas message light decorations were installed at the center of the trees in front of the district office plaza and Omok Waterfront Park, which will be replaced with New Year greetings immediately after Christmas to celebrate the new year.
At Haenuri Fountain Square near Sinjeong Intersection, through public-private cooperation with the Christian Association, three types of trees ranging from 2 to 5 meters in height, deer sculptures, and fountain landscape lighting were installed.
At 5:30 PM on the 1st, as the ‘Simultaneous Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony’ took place, the tree lights at the district office plaza, Omok Waterfront Park, and Haenuri Fountain Square all lit up in red simultaneously. On this day, Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, participated in the lighting ceremony at Haenuri Fountain Square along with the Christian Association, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and residents. Staff and residents also gathered at the lighting ceremonies at the district office plaza and Omok Waterfront Park to wish for a warm year-end and New Year.
