Governor Kim Dong-yeon Pays Condolences to Monk Jaseung on the Afternoon of the 1st... Hwaseong Yongjusa
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, will pay his respects to Monk Jaseung on the afternoon of the 1st.
Gyeonggi Province announced that Governor Kim is scheduled to visit the funeral hall of Monk Jaseung located at Yongjusa Temple in Hwaseong City between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM on that day to offer his condolences.
The funeral hall for Monk Jaseung was set up by the Jogye Order's 25 direct districts nationwide, with locations in Hwaseong Yongjusa Temple and Bongseonsa Temple in Namyangju City.
Governor Kim, after returning from a business trip to Australia on the 30th of last month, wrote on his social media service (SNS), "I was overwhelmed with grief upon hearing the sudden news of the Great Monk’s passing while abroad," and recalled, "I still vividly remember meeting the Great Monk, who was then the Chief Abbot when I was Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and receiving great teachings."
He continued, "Great Monk Jaseung, who conveyed the meaning of ‘coexistence’ and ‘mutual prosperity,’ has now entered nirvana," and expressed hope that "He will continue to widely spread the Buddha’s teachings on this land through Sokhwan Saba."
Furthermore, he added, "I deeply mourn with the laypeople and Buddhists who followed the Great Monk, regardless of whether they are lay or monastic."

Monk Jaseung passed away due to a fire that broke out around 6:50 PM on the 29th of last month at the monk’s quarters within Chiljangsa Temple, located in Chiljang-ri, Juksan-myeon, Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province.
