'Seoul-ui Bom' Surpasses 3 Million Viewers in Just 10 Days After Release
The film "Seoul's Spring," inspired by the December 12 military coup, surpassed 3 million viewers within ten days of its release.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticket sales system, as of 12:04 AM on the 1st, "Seoul's Spring" (director Kim Seong-su) attracted a cumulative audience of 3,051,536.
Released on the 22nd of last month, "Seoul's Spring" reached 1 million viewers in just four days and surpassed 2 million viewers by the sixth day. It has garnered attention by drawing 3 million viewers within ten days.
This is the fastest box office performance since "The Outlaws 3" (director Lee Sang-yong), starring Ma Dong-seok, the only Korean film this year to reach 10 million viewers, and "Inside Men" (2015), which attracted 7.07 million viewers and holds the record for the highest audience among Korean films released in November.

"Seoul's Spring" depicts the tense nine hours aimed at preventing the rebellion by the new military forces in Seoul on December 12, 1979. Actor Hwang Jung-min plays Jeon Du-hwan, inspired by Chun Doo-hwan, and Jung Woo-sung portrays Lee Tae-shin, the Capital Security Commandant. The cast also includes Park Hae-joon, Lee Sung-min, and Kim Sung-kyun. The film is directed by Kim Seong-su, who previously directed "Beat" (1997), "Flu" (2013), and "Asura" (2016).
