33 Experts Appointed, Lee Gi-woong Elected as Chairman
Five Subcommittees Established to Address the Local Era
On the 29th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held the inauguration ceremony for the 6th Gurye-gun Policy Advisory Committee at the Baekdudaegan Ecological Education Center.
At the inauguration ceremony, over 40 people including advisory committee members and senior public officials attended, where appointment letters were presented and the committee chairperson was elected.
The 6th Gurye-gun Policy Advisory Committee is composed of 33 experts from various fields, and Chairperson Lee Ki-woong, Honorary Professor at Suncheon National University, was re-elected following his term in the 5th committee.
After the inauguration, discussions on committee operations and major county administrative issues continued. Five subcommittees (Autonomous Administration, Residential City, Industrial Economy, Culture and Tourism, Ecological Environment) were established, and visits to ongoing project sites were planned to gather collective wisdom for Gurye’s development.
Additionally, Gurye-gun explained major pending projects to the committee members and requested their advice.
The committee members proposed measures such as solidarity responses with neighboring local governments facing difficulties similar to Gurye, strengthening collaboration with glocal universities, and strategies for attracting investment as a hinterland city of the Gwangyang Industrial Complex.
Chairperson Lee Ki-woong stated, “The 5th committee was significantly restricted for a long period due to the impact of COVID-19,” and added, “The 6th committee will contribute to Gurye’s development through active activities and policy advice.”
County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “With the launch of a new local era, it is an important time to discover policies that reflect regional characteristics,” and requested, “I ask for the committee members’ active policy proposals and advice going forward.”
