Gwangju Police Agency's Year-End and New Year Drunk Driving 'Intensive Crackdown'
The Gwangju Police will conduct a focused crackdown on drunk driving from the 1st of next month until January 31st of the following year.
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency anticipates an increase in drunk driving as drinking gatherings such as year-end parties rise during the holiday season.
Accordingly, they plan to deploy all available personnel around the clock?daytime, nighttime, and late-night shifts?moving between major roads and side streets without distinction to carry out drunk driving enforcement.
They also plan to conduct surprise checks for driving under the influence of hangovers, considering the morning commute traffic conditions.
In particular, they intend to respond strictly by confiscating vehicles in cases of serious fatal accidents caused by drunk driving.
A police official stated, "It is necessary to recognize that drunk driving is a serious crime that completely robs others of their precious lives and property."
