"No Worries Even If Education Policy Changes"... Seongbuk-gu Launches Career and Admission Experts Council
Activation of Regional Curriculum Development and Career and College Admission Support under the High School Credit System
Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced on the 30th that it held the appointment ceremony for the Seongbuk-gu Career and College Admission Experts Council members and the 1st meeting at the Seongbuk-gu Office Future Planning Office on the 28th.
This Experts Council was formed to promote the activation of career and college admission support in Seongbuk-gu in anticipation of upcoming changes in education policies, such as the full introduction of the high school credit system in 2025 and the college entrance exam reform in 2028. The Vice Mayor of Seongbuk-gu was appointed as the chairperson, and 10 members including university professors, principals of middle and high schools, admissions officers, officials from the Education Support Office, and Seongbuk-gu Office were appointed as council members.
The Career and College Admission Experts Council members are responsible for ▲establishing and operating the regional curriculum for the high school credit system, which Seongbuk-gu is promoting with the goal of credit certification ▲activating career and college admission support reflecting the demands of residents ▲providing advice on educational issues in Seongbuk-gu in preparation for changes in the educational environment.
At the 1st meeting following the appointment ceremony, the district discussed the overall composition and operation plans for nine regional high school credit system curricula, including automotive engineering, which are being piloted by three universities including Kookmin University and five high schools including Yongmun High School. Various opinions on the 2028 college entrance exam reform draft announced by the Ministry of Education last October were shared, and plans to activate career and college admission support for the future educational development of Seongbuk were proposed.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “I hope that the Seongbuk-gu Career and College Admission Experts Council, which was formed proactively ahead of other districts, will operate effectively rather than formally, and based on this, we will actively reflect the opinions from the Experts Council in district administration.”
