Hyundai Mobis Develops World's First QL Display for Vehicles
Hyundai Mobis announced on the 30th that it has succeeded in developing the world's first vehicle QL display that combines new technologies. As a next-generation vehicle display with both high specifications and price competitiveness, it plans to pursue new orders from global automakers.
The QL display is a product that combines Quantum Dot and Local Dimming technologies. Quantum Dot enhances color reproduction by expressing the original colors more realistically, while Local Dimming improves contrast between bright and dark colors to deliver clear image quality.
The QL display, which merges these two technologies, maximizes screen brightness and clarity to an OLED level. While its performance is similar, its price is lower than OLED, providing competitive advantage. It features a large 27-inch curved screen and a slim design with a thickness of 14.5mm. The thickness can be reduced to as thin as 10mm according to customer orders.
Recently, the vehicle display market has established a trend of large integrated screens that extend continuously from the driver's seat to the passenger seat. Hyundai Mobis plans to increase new orders in the premium vehicle display market by promoting the QL display, which enables high-definition and slim design. The company is directly visiting global automakers in North America and Europe to introduce and demonstrate the technology, highlighting the product's competitiveness. After developing the world's first rollable vehicle display last year, Hyundai Mobis is now strengthening its next-generation display competitiveness with the QL display.
