Nakdonggangcheong Kumhogang Kumhojigu River Environment Improvement Project to be Completed in December
Creation of a Complex Waterfront Space for Culture, Tourism, and Environment
The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office announced that the 'Geumho River Geumho District River Environment Improvement Project' in the section from Dodong to Hwangjeong-ri, Geumho-eup, Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk, will be completed on December 1.
Started in July 2020, the Geumho District River Environment Improvement Project invested 10.7 billion KRW over more than three years to complete maintenance including 1.1 km of reservoir embankment repair, 52,342㎡ of river environment improvement (high-water area maintenance, tree planting, and rest area creation), 1.2 km of bicycle road, and installation of an 85 m pedestrian bridge over Bukancheon.
This section had continuous local complaints requesting flood control function improvement and creation of waterfront spaces considering the surrounding environment due to the river not being maintained.
Reflecting these residents' opinions, the project improved the river environment by opening reservoir embankments, walking trails, and bicycle roads along the Geumho River embankment, and installing rest areas and landscaping facilities within the riverside Noeul District and Eoullim District waterfront spaces.
