Sejong-si to Distribute 9.9 Billion KRW in Basic Public Direct Payments to 8,170 Recipients This Year
Sejong City announced on the 29th that it has finalized the list of 8,170 recipients eligible for the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment this year and will begin payments starting early next month.
The direct payment is provided annually to farmers who meet certain qualifications and comply with required conditions to promote the public functions of agriculture and rural areas and to stabilize farmers' incomes.
Sejong City finalized the list of direct payment recipients after receiving applications from towns and townships within the jurisdiction from February to April and completing compliance inspections.
Based on this, a total of 3.452 billion KRW will be paid to 2,881 small-scale farms under the small-scale direct payment, and a total of 6.462 billion KRW will be paid to 5,289 recipients under the area-based direct payment. This represents an increase of 296 hectares in payment area and 757 million KRW in payment amount compared to last year.
The increase in payment area and amount this year compared to the previous year is attributed to the removal of the payment condition that limited eligibility to farmland that had received direct payments at least once during the three years from 2017 to 2019.
