Samsung Display Promotes 27 Executives Including 10 Vice Presidents
Young Leaders Appointed Including 30s Executive Director and 40s Vice President
On the 29th, Samsung Display announced its "2024 Regular Executive Personnel Appointment," promoting a total of 27 individuals, including 10 Vice Presidents, 15 Senior Directors, 1 Fellow, and 1 Master.
They selected individuals who contributed to strengthening market dominance in the display sector and securing future growth engines based on differentiated product and technology competitiveness. Among the promoted were Vice President Kim Tae-woo, Head of Sales Team A in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, who contributed to the initial supply of OLED panels to major customers in the Americas; Vice President Yoon Jae-nam, Head of Sales Team 1 in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, who discovered new global customers and contributed to sales expansion and profitability improvement; Vice President Lee Geon-hyung, Head of the Facility Team in Global Infrastructure, who led on-site innovation activities to reduce construction costs of the 8.6-generation IT line; and Vice President Jang Geun-ho, Head of the Process Research Team at the Display Research Institute, who commercialized and applied the eco-friendly low power consumption technology "Eco Square OLED."
Also promoted were Vice President Jang Cheol-woong, Head of Module Material Purchasing Group in the Purchasing Team, who led supply stabilization through proactive negotiations amid driver IC supply shortages; Vice President Jung Sung-wook, Head of the Module Technology Team in the Large Display Business Division, who contributed to timely mass production through QD-OLED printing process setup and equipment innovation; Vice President Jung Sung-ho, Head of Equipment Element Technology Development Team at the Production Technology Research Institute, who improved new product yield by applying laser new technology to equipment; Vice President Han Dong-won, Head of the Technology Innovation Team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, who improved efficiency in key processes such as photo and dry etching; and Vice President Heo Cheol, Head of Business Planning Group in the Planning Team, who established a stable withdrawal strategy for the LCD business and a new business strategy for QD-OLED.
Young leaders in their 30s and 40s with proven performance and growth potential were also selected regardless of age. Vice President Jeon Jin, promoted to Vice President in the Small and Medium Display A Development Team, was born in 1975. He was recognized for his achievements in securing mass production and reliability verification of differentiated new technologies such as oxide-based technology and hole displays, contributing to timely supply of new products to customers.
Senior Director Yoo Dong-gon of the Inspection Equipment Development Team at the Production Technology Research Institute, born in 1985, became the youngest executive promotee. He was evaluated for integrating AI-based inspection software with optical equipment, establishing an automated inspection system at overseas production subsidiaries, and contributing to reducing new product defect leakage rates.
The first Master at Samsung Display, who possesses expertise and technical skills in the QD-OLED materials field and has produced outstanding results, was also appointed as the company’s first Fellow. Fellow Oh Geun-chan of the Process Development Team in the Large Display Business Division was recognized for his contributions to improving QD optical materials, securing ultra-precision inkjet printing process characteristics, and commercializing the world’s first QD-OLED product by integrating OLED technology.
