Lotte Wellfood Introduces Recycled PET in 'Pasteur' Milk
Application of Chemical Recycling PET (C-rPET)
Annual Reduction of 50 Tons of Plastic Usage
Lotte Wellfood (formerly Lotte Confectionery) announced on the 29th that it has joined the government’s policy to expand the use of recycled materials by applying recycled PET (rPET) to all 750mL products of ‘Pasteur’.
Lotte Wellfood’s Pasteur has changed 25% of the container material to raw materials containing chemically recycled PET (C-rPET) for six types of 750mL products. The products with changed container materials are Bareun Farm Milk, Antibiotic-Free Milk, Organic Milk, Bareun Farm Goat Protein Milk, Bareun Farm Easily Digestible Milk, and Bareun Farm Probiotic Milk. The packaging uses the phrase “This is a good container containing recycled plastic” to enable consumers to make environmentally conscious purchases. This plastic reduction activity is expected to reduce about 50 tons of plastic annually.
The chemical recycling technology applied to C-rPET is known as an innovative recycling technology that is globally recognized for its excellent quality and broad recyclability regardless of color or the use of composite materials. Lotte Wellfood plans to continue its plastic reduction activities in collaboration with Lotte Chemical and Lotte Central Research Institute.
