June 8, Author Ochanho Invited Lecture... Theme: 'Where Love Abounds, Inequality Exists'
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will hold the Gangbuk-gu Human Rights Culture Event from December 4 to 8.
The Gangbuk-gu Human Rights Culture Event is organized to commemorate Human Rights Day (December 10), reflect on the meaning of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and widely promote a culture of respect for human rights.
The district has designated December 4 to 8 as Human Rights Week, during which award-winning works from human rights-related contests such as photos, posters, and card news will be exhibited in the lobby on the first floor of Gangbuk-gu Office and the Small Human Rights Library inside the Gangbuk Cultural Information Library.
Also, at 10 a.m. on the 8th, a special lecture will be held in the large auditorium on the 4th floor of Gangbuk-gu Office. The lecture will be delivered by author Oh Chan-ho (Ph.D. in Sociology from Sogang University), who has appeared on many current affairs and educational programs such as tvN's Eojjeoda Eoreun and JTBC's Different Class, under the theme "Where Love Overflows, Inequality Exists."
The Human Rights Culture Event is open to all residents of Gangbuk-gu. Residents who wish to attend the special lecture can make a reservation by December 6 through the Gangbuk-gu website (Citizen Participation → District Administration Participation → Integrated Reservation Application) or contact the district's Audit Office.

Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "The Universal Declaration of Human Rights specifies individual freedoms and rights and is the world's first declaration to recognize that human rights and fundamental freedoms apply equally to all humanity." She added, "I hope many people participate in the event to feel the importance of human rights, and Gangbuk-gu will do its best to realize a human rights-friendly community free from discrimination and prejudice."
