The Climate Action Seo-gu, a council member research group of Seo-gu Council in Gwangju Metropolitan City, held a forum on the 24th in the small conference room of the government building under the theme of ‘Efficient Treatment Measures for Household Waste Recycling.’

The forum was organized to discuss ▲strengthening public awareness campaigns on recycling ▲establishing rational governance between the local community and residents ▲operating a resident-participatory relay secondhand flea market ▲training citizen environmental experts for resource circulation ▲installing and expanding discharge zone guide lines and clean houses for recycling management ▲installing and expanding AI unmanned collection machines.

Council members belonging to the research group, along with citizen panelists including Kim Eun-joo, co-chair of Seo-gu Village Net Irak, Kim Sing-sing, team leader of Dong-gu Resource Circulation Center, and Park Min-hee, researcher of the social cooperative Sallim, participated to share opinions on practical measures.

The citizen panelists who participated in the forum said, “We hope that the proposals suggested by the research group will be concretized into projects and promoted,” and added, “We also hope the council will actively take the lead in securing budgets accordingly.”

Representative of the research group, Councilor Ahn Hyung-joo, stated, “I will carry out legislative activities to ensure that the matters researched and discussed over the past six months of the research group’s activities are prepared as practical measures and reflected in policies,” and added, “I will continue to strive to discover practical cases and policies to respond to the climate crisis.”
