Gyeonggi-do, Proactive Response to Cold Wave and Road Black Ice
The Gyeonggi Province has issued an urgent directive for proactive measures such as protecting vulnerable groups and removing road ice as a cold wave warning has been issued for 27 cities and counties within the province.
On the 24th, Oh Byeong-kwon, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated in an official document, "There are concerns for the safety of residents due to the rapid temperature drop following rainfall," and urged, "Please cooperate with cities and counties to do your best in emergency duty through proactive situation management, including protective measures for vulnerable groups during the cold wave and preemptive snow removal in habitual icy areas."
Gyeonggi Province first requested cities and counties to strengthen checks on the well-being and health status of vulnerable groups such as elderly people living alone with mobility difficulties and severely disabled individuals, as well as to enhance the operation of cold wave shelters.
Furthermore, after the rain stops, the province added that thorough preparations should be made with related agencies for preemptive snow removal in habitual icy road sections and private toll road sections in anticipation of road ice caused by the temperature drop.
Additionally, they urged the implementation of measures to prevent damage to water meters and water pipes from freezing, and prompt action in case of any damage.
